My Day of Embodying Procrastination

I'm meant to be doing some hardcore studying for Mandarin as my oral exam is next Friday and yet somehow I find myself updating my dear blog that I've not touched since July. Hmm.

Jobs I've found for myself to do in lieu of studying:

  • watered my plants.
  • make bread (Foccaccia to be precise)
  • booked a wedding show.
  • taken pictures of me and Coco.
  • taken pictures of my Mooncake - 中秋节快乐!(Meaning "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!" Hah! I've done some mandarin!)
  • Backed up my Blackberry and sync'd the pics from it.
  • Browsed Facebook.
  • Done laundry.
  • Had a Stephen Chow movie on whilst I was trying to study - perhaps confusing my head because I was listening to Cantonese whilst trying to take in Mandarin.
OK I managed to do SOME Mandarin but not enough to the extent of retaining much knowledge that wasn't already ingrained into my memory.

Nicest Man in Rock; We're Coming For You!!!

Whilst we're all very excited about finally seeing Foo Fighters in concert, my anxiety over having to leave the group to go pee and then try to find them again is overwhelming said excitement.

Should I just not drink at all for the duration? Dilemma.

Geekiest Morning Ever

It all started this morning when I was trying to figure out what episode of "Community" I'd last watched, and then I found out that (yesssss) the series has been renewed for a 3rd Season (otherwise I'd have been rather Changry.)

Then I discovered the joys of reading about how some of my favourite shows came into being via Wikipedia - which led to the discovery that "Supernatural" has been renewed for a 7th Season (which I'm a bit dubious about...Smallville went into double digits of Seasons and judging from the episode teasers, got really ridiculous).

From reading up on the origins of Marvel Comic's Thor yesterday and checking out Once Upon A Geek this morning - I've ended up acquiring the first season of "The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" as a nice buffer between the release of "Thor" and the upcoming "Captain America" and, in anticipation of "The Avengers" (not to be confused with John Steed and Emma Peel - which is what I thought when I first heard about the release...Oops. Showing some weird age there.)

Usually I'm not all that bothered about the comic-book adaptions into movies but I'm eagerly awaiting the release of "The Avengers"...why? JOSS WHEDON is Directing. About bloody time someone gave him a chance to be involved in something that won't get cancelled in the middle of it's awesomeness.

Umm...And now back to work.

Sun Solution

My bid to keep Miss Coco cool in the sun-filled April we've been having on the balcony - a cold flannel on the head.

Also for my own amusement.

We've found that the sun both increases her lethargy as well as her crabbiness with neighbourly noises. But after a half hour of persistent 'guarding' (read: woofing) she'll just flake out and the only indication of her annoyance will be this funny, vaguely snotty noise she makes when she breathes out through her nose in a huff.

Pandan Attempt No. 2

Tah-daaaah!

2 less eggs, coconut milk instead of corn oil and flour mixed in at the right time this time (oh and learning how to correctly get the cake out of the pan helped a lot) and there is the delicious result.

Ladies Of A Certain Age

I know I must be hitting a certain age, and apparently expected to start thinking about producing the next generation, if my Neuro nurse is suggesting I take Folic Acid from now on for pregnancy preparation.(!)

Malaysian Pie

Well - really it's a Pandan Chiffon Cake, but the reference is fitting...

...given that my first attempt at this cake looks like American Pie's pie-loving deviant Jim got to it first.

Half a Decade Later

As is usually the case with us, a romantic hand-in-hand walk on a sunny wintry day through the woods of the New Forest became a giggle-fest thanks to the unfortunate sound effect my shoes make.

Good times ^.^

Loved-Up, Gymtastic or just plain Groovy - Oh! the Playlist-Making Options..

Coco's dozing away on my lap and we're both under my Snoopy fleece blanket - though it's sunny and bright outside, it's feels freakin' cold - so grateful we both are for the body warmth.

I'm about to embark on making my first mix-tape for my significant other and I find myself giggling to myself as I wonder "will he visibly react if a sneaky Backstreet Boy song popped into his ears during his gym time / commute?"

Recently I've re-discovered TV on the Radio, loved up the Bird and the Bee, become introduced to Warpaint and am looking forward to Lykke Li's upcoming album.

Another Thing TV Has Taught Me

I think it's the combined effect of having both a Kindle and a Blackberry in my possession plus a viewing marathon of the Walking Dead that's making me think that a solar-powered recharger would be a really good buy.

Not that I'd imagine you'd have much need of reading or emailing when the undead are lolloping about...

Day One

And I'm hunting for Blackberry deals...I'm not sure if it's a weird and bad thing that I never even had one when I was on a salary but I'm getting one now that I'm doing the same job but not on a salary. Huh.

I'm just amazed I managed to set up my new work Mail on my Mac by myself.
